Devlog 3
We have added several improvements and fixed several bugs since last update. the main aim we has between this and last time was to make what is happening more clear to the players, it was not clear enough what the mechanics were, when someone was holding a key or the door was holding a key. these things were fixed in this update.
Tutorials
The main change of this update consists of the inclusion of a more comprehensive tutorial, during testing we discovered that players could were not grasping the mechanics of the game very well, to help with this we added extra tutorial text and plan to do more in the future. this consists of extra text in the existing tutorial levels as well as reworkings of them.
Movement
the player character could previously only move one increment at a time when using WASD, this has been fixed so that the keys can be held to continue on in any direction. this something that was brought up in testing and helps the user experience immensely.
Visual
There have been Visual improvements including:
- fixing the door so that the inner key pieces render from both sides of the door, the key also renders in the door when it is placed inside from both angles.
- created a walking and idle animation of the time agent holding a key, these animations play when the player has picked up and is holding a key, this was a crucial element we needed to fix because there was previously no way to tell when the player was holding a key.
